This reminds me of a memorable Peoples court from Judge Whapner's(sp) days. An auto mechanic had played a practical joke on a co-worker, by coming up behind him while he was working under the hood of a car and directed a blast form a high-pressure air hose it his co-workers backside causing him to hit his head on the hood and throw out his back.
The co-worker was suing the prankster for medical bills and lost wages. During the opening of the show, when the case was explained, the prankster was basically saying, "it was just a joke, we did it all the time and this guy is just trying to get money...." But during opening statements the plaintiff started bring forward his medical records showing damaged vertebrae, records that he was being retrained for some kind of desk job, because he could no longer stand and expert statements that the an high-power air hose could have caused potentially fatal internal injuries.
