Too true. Finance is more voodoo than absolute in any case. I'm not a financial expert (far from it!) but I've been working in the industry for the past 10 years building systems to allow people to manage their accounts. There are so many false starts with advice - people think it's a great idea, then we spend tons of money looking into providing it. But then, sooner or later, it becomes clear that it's just a tremendously deep concept. As much as they can annoy the hell out of me professionally an actual trained financial planner - a person who's looking at your specific situation - is really indispensable.
