first of all you have that backwards, Metallica opened for ozzy(ultimate sin 
tour, i caught that 1 in san diego), I hardly think Ozzy opens for anyone ;) 
ANd that was metallicas big break before they sold out.

 Is that the  amphitheatre thats right on the river at the small boat ramp?

Ahh. I remember way back when...

Evansville has a small amphitheatre for outdoor concerts when it's not
too hot and muggy. Many years ago, I went to see Ozzy open for
Metallica.

Right before the concert James Hetfield was skateboarding backstage and
broke his wrist. We were told James would still sing, but a roadie
would play his guitar parts. After a while, however, he couldn't come
out, so Ozzy was nice enough to play a double-length set.

It was a shame because not long after this concert, Cliff Burton was
killed in the bus accident. I never got to see him play live. :'(
