Reminds me of watching anime, or any foreign film really. Sometimes the translations are for decency, particularly when shown on TV. But sometimes the translations are just bizarre. I like watching a dub with the subtitles turned on just to catch the differences. It's gotten a lot better now that anime has become a viable market in the US, but I was watching the old Star Blazers/Space Battleship Yamato and the differences were crazy. The ship was renamed from Yamato to Argo because the Yamato was such a prominent battleship in WWII and they didn't want it to offend US families. But my favorite was the doctor who was always drinking sake was edited to be drinking "spring water" in the english version. That's some potent spring water since he was constantly drunk off his ass! And on the show One Piece that is currently being aired, they were in a resturant and people were smoking cigarettes but when the waiter poured some wine they kept referring to it as grape juice. "Would you like some grape juice?" "It's very good grape juice, is it not?" -Kevin ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Find out how CFTicket can increase your company's customer support efficiency by 100% http://www.houseoffusion.com/banners/view.cfm?bannerid=49 Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:149862 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
