Yeah there are big gaps in usefulness in DC. Personally I hated having
to go all the way downtown and back out to get from Takoma Park to
Gaithersburg. The bus was worse though. I lived in Hyattsville before
they put the Metro in and used to have to take a bus back from
Brookland late at night.

Not familiar with the other systems you mention.
