Does anybody know if the WDDX implementation in CF 7 is actually updated from previous versions? Is there any work on the project?
More to the point will the current release (now well over 5 year old) still work in modern Java/JavaScript implementations? Any other tool that's as easy to use for the same thing? I ask because I'm working on a project now and we've just lost our middleware (WebSphere/Struts) guy - we've since found out that his code was pure shite. I'm building a decoupled interface purely in JavaScript/DHTML (as an IE HTA) and right now were passing data using a custom XML DOM dialect of my design - but it lacks a schema/DTD and requires custom programming and such. I'm considering suggesting using something more mature - WDDX would certainly fit the bill, but I've already fought too many battles to get the inteface logic on the client. I don't want to deal with the flak should it turn out that the old WDDX SDK code just isn't going to work. Any suggestions? I've looked at SOAP as well, but as you need to define all the elements anyway it would probably be easier to stick with what we have.
