Personally, at this point I wouldn't consider a non-HD tv.  The picture really 
is markedly better (not just "videophile better" like those people who say they 
can see enornmous improvement going from s-video to component).  Pretty much 
every station is broadcasting in HD now and most cable/satellite companies are 
carrying decoders.

We've only got one TV in the house and we tend to keep them for at least a 
decade so maybe that's just me.  But if plan on keeping the TV for more than 
five years or so you might want to consider it.
