Well I had to put a twist on your categories to make it fit. I agree with Matt that you were more describing socialists. Sure some liberals are socialists, but that's not really liberalism per se, it's just the facet of liberalism that embraces the right of the individual "to dissent from orthodox tenets or established authorities in political or religious matters". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberalism
To me, at its core, being a liberal means I support individual liberty. There are Republican liberals, Democrat liberals, Libertarian liberals, etc that argue over details of how that is accomplished. An Independent is just someone that hasn't picked a political party and they can be either liberal or conservative. Basically, liberals embrace change and new ideas and conservatives are opposed to change and are in favor of stability. Of course, people being people there is no one label that fits everybody. Every opinion and decision is weighed by personal experiences and on some issues a person who is typically liberal may be conservative and vice versa. Which is why I really don't care for over generalized labels. -Kevin On Tue, 29 Mar 2005 09:53:32 -0600, Gruss Gott <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > I've found a few liberals! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Discover CFTicket - The leading ColdFusion Help Desk and Trouble Ticket application http://www.houseoffusion.com/banners/view.cfm?bannerid=48 Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:152071 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
