If speed is your primary concern, cable all the way. The cable provider in 
this area recently upped their standard upstreams to 5 megs.

My DSL gets about 1.5, so the difference is not negligible For me personally 
though, 1.5 if fast enough for home use, and DSL is close to 15 bucks 
cheaper a month.
