I work in edu as well and there's a chance we're looking down the same
barrel. I'm a graphic designer by training who got into web design.
ColdFusion, as a tag-based language, was an easy fit. I was fortunate
to get a job at a university that had chosen to implement CF for much
the same reasons.

Now the powers that be want to merge our university with another set
of state schools and "create efficiencies". We run Oracle and CF. They
run the MS set. This could be interesting.

Good luck to you.
