What I meant was why would he do it. But he conceivably could be pleading guilty bevcause the deal was that he would do so or be charged with some thing worse. Not saying this is the case mind you... I find the whole thing rather confusing. If you are concerned about the take that history will have on you, why allow the documents to get into the national archives in the first place?
