I am in Texas as well and it really depends on what stations. On my commute to work I see diesel anywhere from 2.19 to 2.39 and the super unleaded usually is 2.33 or so. But that is why I said around the super unleaded price, it(diesel) typically in the past 8 or months has been the same price as super unleaded give or take a few pennies. I do not really mind higher fuel costs in general but I do certainly dislike it when one that typically was a cheaper grade is now one of the most expensive ones. My understanding on the process to make diesel is it is a lesser process as well. Something like as you go up(or was it down) the tower you go down in grades of fuel, one of the lowest being something like Bunker C. I had to work with Bunker C when on the ships, that stuff was damn near a solid at room temp, it was just that sludgy.
