ok let me put it another way.
 Why would you choose a product (doesnt matter who the maker is) that's core 
products( which isnt free) is a hole riddled, poorly coded piece of junk, why 
would their "free" product be any better?
 Not bashing them just a question in general but that is my main reason why I 
wouldnt go to .net.
 And it's not .net will be eroded down anyway, just like asp, vb.net.

Aha....now i see where you are coming from. The whole "everything microsoft 
does is evil" camp. *yawn*

My company said take a look at .NET. I did. I found quite a few things about 
it that I really liked. I used it for some specific projects that it 
performed VERY well. Should I have refused to use it just because it was 
Microsoft?

Why fear Microsoft products? Do some research, approach it objectively, even 
a bit skeptically, as you would any product. If you find that a product 
fulfills a valuable need....use it. Who cares who made it?
