Now I've read it all I'm still firmly in the "that's nuts" camp. Here's why:
1.) You said "still controlling her".
1.1) We don't know that he ever "controlled" her, and
1.2) I'd call what he's doing "being responsible". For example,
parental decisions aren't "controlling". He's taking responsibility
for her! What should he have done? Just left?
2.) A good 80% of the stuff you listed falls under the category of
"married." My wife tries to control me all of the time!
3.) All of the stuff about her leaving is puuuurrrrree speculation;
both if and why.
There's just absolutely no evidence whatsoever to say that he was in
any way abusive. Heck, maybe she was abusive! I also know lots of
people with short fuses who may also be assholes and they're not
abusers. That is, I don't think that fact is indicative of anything.
You might as well call him an expert stamp collector because he's
mailed letters before.
