They work basically the same as Propane except you don't have to refill the tank. And IIRC, Propane burns a bit cleaner. Some grills can be converted, but I'm pretty sure the Weber grills can't. Some of the Vermont Castings grills can be, but I know the models that Home Depot sells are custom made for HD so I don't know if those are the same as VC's own grills.
