I think an oil executive mentioned something similar a while back. To paraphrase, he said that people bitch and moan when gas gets over a dollar a gallon, not understanding that the oil has to be retreived from deep within the earth, delivered to a processing plant, and then distributed, yet they are willing to be over a dollar for a pint of bottled water which is so much easier to get.
