well an abortion will ruin the child's life for sure. If it is born, both lives are likely to be quite unhappy. Which is why I hate the whole situation. There really is no happy ending at this point, just a reduction in harm. All I am saying is that the girl may well have had fewer choices than you think, and now the evangelicals are making her a test case, poor kid. Even if she had sex with a boyfriend freely and knowing she could get pregnant, the best outcome for her is still probably the abortion. I just hope this gets straightened out in time for the first trimester abortion; after the fetus quickens then the issues get much much murkier.
For what it is worth, I am against abortion, but more against telling someone who thinks she needs one that she can't have it. Pregnancy is such a huge renunciation of personal space that, now it is possible to have a choice in the matter, it should always be entered into by choice. Yes, the woman with the serial abortions is abusing the concept, but if these are early term abortions then nobody has any business telling her she cannot do that, irrational and insensitive as it is.
