My AMD "space heater" processor (which was well
>ventilated and "fanned") melted that dekstop.

That's becoming a huge problem for all components. I read something about the
next Pentium IV consuming some insane amount of power, and then I saw something
that took the cake. One of the graphics card companies (can't remember if it
was ATI or nVidia) was going to ask the standards group that specs PCI/PCIe to
allow more power for the PCIe slot because they might need up to 225 W for the
next version GPU.

I lost my interest in gaming, and I don't do CAD or anything else that
graphically intensive, so I've been looking at going low power rather than high
end. Still enough power for typical computing tasks, but much lower heat
dissipation and power consumption.

I would like nothing more than a small form factor desktop with dual display
support and no fan, or only a minimal fan. I saw the Mac Mini at the Apple
store. I'm not a Mac guy, but that's a killer little piece of hardware. I want
someone in the x86 space to make something like that.

The other thing I could deal with would be a tablet PC. HP has a great one, but
price is premium on those babies.
