I think House can pull it off regardless of the direction they go (whether
they bump uglies or not).

<minor spoilers>

When the character of Vogel came onboard, and he and Dr. House were
clashing, my wife said, "you know the resolution is that Vogel's going to
get sick and House is going to cure him." I thought, "nah...too
'formulaic'". (then i thought, "hmm...is formulaic a word?"). Anyway, the
last Vogel episode opened with House telling Vogel that he had some sort of
cancer and blah blah...during the conversation my wife turned and said,
"see, toldja". I said, "i don't buy it." Sure enough, the conversation
between Vogel and House turned to House saying that he was going to buy
Vogel a piano-sized coffin (or words to that effect), and it became clear
that this was a dream sequence.

</minor spoilers>

It was almost as if the writers said, "we know what you -think- we're going
to do...but not only are we -not- going to do that...we're going to dangle
it in front of your noses first to make you think that we're going to do
that even though we're not."

So based not only on that...but on the consistency and quality of the
writing since episode 1...I'm going to guess show a bit of faith in these
folks and assume that they know what they're doing and that I'm safe in
their capable hands.

Oh, and I'd also just like to point out that I WAS RIGHT AND MY WIFE WAS
WRONG! BWAH-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA (yes, I rarely get to say it) :)
