I think it's a completely fair assessment to say that Al-Qaeda now views the fight over Iraq as THE premier battle of their ideals vs. the free worlds. This pre-occupation would certainly make it harder if not impossible to plan another large scale attack on American soil. In that sense, Bush has "taken the fight to the enemy", to coin a phrase from their rhetoric.
To some, this justifies the war...period. To me it's just not that cut and dry. Did thousands of American soldiers and IRAQI civilians have to die in order to accomplish this end?
