That makes a very good point tho... religions being what they are,
some faiths have very stringent requirements about mingling with
people of other faiths. It might actually be considered an
excommunicable sin for a Jehova's Witness to accept charity from an
LDS church. I'm not sure why that is, but I know that there's a lot of
contention between those denominations. Giving any church or religious
organization tax money just opens so many new avenues for abuse --
it's just plain crazy.

(Off-topic: Not that the LDS church would ever ask -- iirc in the US
they have the highest average income of all religions according to
census and are very stringent about the 10% tithe. Iirc they also give
aid to people without requiring that they attend their services,
although they do use it as a tool for their missionary work -- just in
a much less overt manner. It's sorta like checking your email with a
webmail client and noticing a sudden influx of spam as a result of the
web-bugs. You ask, they help, you see missionaries at your door every
week or so for several months. I think most people are unaware that
the LDS church provides any kind of charities tho because they don't
advertise it -- the only way you know is if you ask the right member
when you need help. I don't think even all their members are aware of
it. I know because my mother's been an LDS member since I was a
toddler.)
