My big problem was that all of the clips you mentioned seemed like pre-rendered. It may have been rendered dynamically - who knows, but the actual action (dramatic, unplayable camera angles and such) just felt pre-rendered. I kept rewinding and pausing to try and get more out of the two second clip but left with the same feelings. Sure - they look great, but show me some gameplay! > A few things I liked: > Turning on the system from the couch with the wireless controller. > (I'm really not that lazy, it's just one of those 'Duh' realizations.) Yeah - I've been waiting for this ever since the TG 16 (which was the first console that actually let you reset the damn console from the controller). > Hardware kicks some arse. Of course. But we knew that. ;^) One thing - although not mentioned in the MTV travesty it was in the ourcolony.net spot (and again in the magazine article you posted): it seems like the system will actually have a built in hard drive. Is that confirmed or not? Last I heard it would definitely NOT have one... > The dashboard button on the controller. Very nice (I'm an interface guy - this will go down in history with the "Start" button on Windows 95 and the "Go" button in IE for ease of use coups). > Shoulder buttons on the controller. Yeah... finally. ;^) > E3 is next week. > > Things that are stupid: > Replaceable faceplates? Seems cheep and annoying. Well - just useless to me. It doesn't cost them a damn thing to include them. I'm just not sure why they're making such a big deal about them. > Standard definition clips of high definition games. True - although I don't get MTV in HD anyway (and don't really care if I ever do). Personally I think they did the best thing they could do: expand and enhance Live and the Network capabilities. That's the core element (I think) that will push this console. The PS3 and Revolution will be on par as far as power, graphics, sound, etc as are every generation's consoles. Live and the hooks into Windows will define this console and set it apart from the others. I'm still more excited about the PS3 than the XBox 360 and I'm damned curious about Revolution - but I've liked nearly everything I've seen about the 360 so far. I'll be getting one at launch. ;^) Jim Davis ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Get Instant Hacker Protection, Virus Detection, Antispam & Personal Firewall. http://www.houseoffusion.com/banners/view.cfm?bannerid=62 Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:5:157496 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/5 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:5 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=11502.10531.5 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
