While I agree completely with the marketing that says backwards
compatibility is only important for the first six months of a consoles life
I also agree with you: I don't want to have a dozen consoles connected just
to play all my games.  ;^)

Nintendo and Sony have already announced backwards compatability (really
great in Nintendo's case since they screwed the pooch on Hi-DEF/Digital
Audio support for the Cube) - I really hope MS does the same.

I can't imagine a world were I wouldn't want to play "Ico" every once in a
while no matter how good the new systems are...  ;^)
