If that's the final design I'm happy - it seems reasonably "new" without
being sci-fictional like some of the fan-inspired designs we've seen.

The controller seems like a natural progression - I've always loved the Dual
Shock so I'm happy the actual control surfaces don't seem to have changed.
They've just made it "spacey". ;^)

Also look at the back of that system! Look at all the plugs! I love plugs!
I'm hoping that the extra two Ethernet ports are usable as a mini-switch
(letting me plug other devices into the PS3 as a network switch).

The two HDMI ports can connect to two displays giving you surround video or
independent displays. Not very useful to most, but it should make for a
hell of a tournament experience. ;^)

It also looks at first blush like the same AV Multi cable port is available.
This would be GREAT since I dropped $80 on a monster component/digital audio
cable. It would be nice to be able to use it again (and not have to run the
cable through my home theater again). It looks like the power plug has
changed - if not for that it looks like you could just swap your PS2 out
using the same cables.

So cool: it looks like the next generation eye-toy will be wireless and much
higher resolution. This is, I think, huge and I hope it's an initial
pack-in rather than an add-on.

It also strikes me as odd: Xbox 360 has its major design element the
concavity (the "inhale gesture") while the PS3 design is convex - a
"bursting with power" inference.

I may be a design geek but I see some humor in that. ;^)

All in all a shit-ton to get excited about!
