Well, I was in the same boat and ended up with no loans. (Thank goodness for scholarships.) But, I also chose to go to a state school as soon as the scholarships stopped keeping up with the tuition increases at the private school where I did my freshman year. Yep - the system sucks when your parents have money on paper. In my case, they had money "for real" too and just wouldn't fork over any.
It just seemed like an exhorbitant amount of loans for any undergraduate degree. I suppose it's not if you go to private school, and I don't suppose college-aged kids are supposed to be forward-thinking enough to worry about paying back loans. But, it's just not a decision I would have ever made. (I'm terribly tight with my money.) On 5/19/05, Michael T.
