I see few legal remedies for the owners of intellectual property. The e-commerce directive and the DMCA both have exceptions for caching so it is a bit hard to go after the Usenet providers. And smart uploaders make sure they use a usenet provider in a jurisdiction that does not grant the owners of intellectual property the power to subpoena for names.
