For what it's worth: no large company, financial or otherwise, ever sends
out emails requesting personal information.

Financial companies will nearly always send a paper, snail mail letter (I've
spent more than a little of my life building such systems).  ;^)

eBay and Amazon don't do it either.

It's safest to just ignore any emails in this style.  If you're worried that
they may be real call the company on the telephone to address the problem.
