Social security was designed to protect society from people too stupid or unable to save. Your point, however, is exactly why SS should be disbanded in favor of welfare. That's all Social Security is - welfare for the unfortunate or foolish - so let's all pay some tax amount to cover these people and be done with it. BTW - Qualifying for SS under the Gott plan would be the same as applying financial aid: you'd have to show that not only you, but your family, didn't have the means to support you.
