Personally I would try to sell them to a known, respectable collector if at all possible. Somebody you can meet with who will respect your concerns for the safety of the weapons. > 2.) Destroy them. Although I'm pretty clear how you'd destroy the guns (or at least make them useless) I've got no idea how to destroy "piles of ammunition" - at least not safely at home. ;^) Seems to me the fastest (and funnest) way to destroy the ammunition is to take the lot out to a range and discharge it all.
