I read the book and enjoyed it, and found many of the concepts that it
presented as disturbing from my Christian viewpoint but they did seem as if
they could be true. However, I read a book last Wednesday that picks this
book apart with factual data, and the book is riddled with inaccurate
statements. Here are a few important points that I recall:

1) Dan Brown is a conspiracy theorist and his previous books are about
covered-up conspiracies.

2) There is no "Priory of Sion" as stated in the book. This is a group that
came about in the 1950s that does not have anything to do with the bloodline
of Jesus Christ. And think about it - how likely it is that this group
would contain legendary figures such Sir Isaac Newton, Victor Hugo,
Botticelli, and Leonardo da Vinci. Why/how would this group of people be
members?

3) The Gnostic Gospels contain no reference to Mary Magdalene as the wife of
Jesus.

Anyway, there's a ton of stuff on the internet and published which debunk
most of the book. There are SOME facts that he writes about, but most of
the ideas he presents as fact in the book are unverifiable, and many can be
disproven by well-documented historical artifacts.

Well, here's the high points that I like:

1.) The Bible is a book of man, the content of which was decided upon
and closed by an arbitrary group of humans. This is called
"canonization" and was done in the 400s if I remember right. There
are many other Biblical chapters called the Apocrypha and then even
more than that.

2.) Jesus was a human that was married to Mary Magdalane and his works
and the reincarnation stuff was meant as a metaphor. Both he and Mary
possibly came from royal blood (King David, Solomon, etc)

3.) Much of the Catholic religion's rituals have been inspired more by
politics than by divine command.
