The 11b (2.4 GHz) band is actually about 80 MHz wide, having room for 13 (?) 6 
MHz sub-bands. Those sub-bands have to be a little bit apart to be truely 
non-overlapping, so within that 80MHz band you can have 3 non-interfering 
channels. If you have multiple access points you can create contiguous coverage 
by setting the bands on different APs to 1, 6 and 11 or to 3, 8 and 13 etc. The 
device wil pick the strongest channel and will hop channels when moving around.

If you have interference problems changing the channel might help. But since it 
works fine when you don't use WEP you don't have interference problems :)
