There are a few comments on Peter David's blog regarding taking kids to see BB.

Apparently there are some scenes involving the Scarecrow and his fear
gas that do generate some scenese that might be...questionable.  Other
than that, the consensus seems to be it's 'kid friendly' (with the
caveat that most of the people asking, I believe, were asking for kids
a little older than 5...)

You may just have to make the grand noble gesture of seeing it
yourself first, and seeing it again with the kid if you deem it "kid
friendly" :)
