Heh... I'm not entirely certain how to take that, so I guess I'll just
take it at face value, since I don't have your inflection / intonation
or physical expression to work with. :)

I believe technically the L-GPL would have (note word-selection)
required you to provide an unencrypted copy of the core framework
(with any modifications you'd made) along with your commercial
project, although it would have allowed you to encrypt your
application (process directories).

As a small company Moonbow relies pretty heavily on hosting as a
source of revenue doesn't it? Makes sense that you'd want to encourage
people to stay with your hosting and buffer yourself in the event of
lost hosting fees.

You might be waiting a while for that. :P

That I can give you. :) I changed the license on the framework in a
recent build. It's not under the L-GPL anymore, it's under OpenBSD
now, which doesn't carry the limitation that prevents you from
encrypting the code if you use it in a commercial product. This was in
response to the thread Jim Davis recently started here about some
CFC's he released under OpenBSD and the realization that the GPL/L-GPL
have a negative reputation in some circles which might influence
adoption of libraries released under them. That was the initial reason
for switching although ultimately I think I prefer that it doesn't
carry the limitation with regard to encryption. I don't encrypt my
code, but I don't necessarily have anything against someone else
encrypting their apps, so the limitation is a bit more than is really
necessary when you consider that iirc the license requires you to tell
them what's being used and where they can get it (or information about
it).
