Then that means you think all sentiments on all gravestones are the
signs of a jerk.

For example, let's say your wife dies and you put, "Beloved wife and
mother".  What a jerk you are!  After all, she can't read it and you
already know that so why put it there?  Obviously just to stick it to
those that didn't like her.  Sheesh.
