Huh. Well maybe I'll get all machoed up and give it a shot! It's funny that you mention the thing about sophisticated because my wife and I were having a discussion about the absurdity of American life. For example, once we had a formal brunch in Paris with all the high flootin' hooey and dress that goes along, and then that night we had hamburgers in Minneapolis at Fuddruckers in sandals and ripped jeans. Who doesn't like burgers at Fudd's? I don't even know what sophisticated is anymore. David Brookes wrote a good column about that saying how in the 50s people valued intellectuals and would aspire to read great books, etc, Scholars like Einstein were heroes. Today, few know Brian Greene and NOBODY knows Jack Kilby. But everyone knows Jack Welch. Is Mr. Welch known because he's sophisticated or rich? How about Donald Trump? Would anyone call him sophisticated?
