First idea: for the love of God, support those pipes! break one of
thoses puppies off and you will have real problems. A little half-wall
right there should do it.

As for the skills needed:
Removing old tub:
wrench (bid adjustable should do)
friends (those old tubs are pretty heavy)

Drain pipes:
hack saw
pvc pipe
pvc cleaner and glue

Waterpipes:
copper pipe
copper pipe cutter
flux
solder
torch
lighter for the torch.

But looking at the pictures, if you are OK with the current piping, it
is just a matter of removing the tub and installing a new one in the
same place (so you needn't move the drain pipes)

For that just a wrench (to unscrew the drain), and maybe a new piece
of drain pipe to connect to the tub (depending on how the current tub
was tied in to the drain system.)

Can you get a picture of the underside of the tub where the drain
connects to the tub?

Also, go to lowes or home depot and look at the new plastic tub with 2
sided backsplash. They make life so easy.
