Yep, that's why it's optional. If these things concern you, don't do it.

EXACTLY. So get some of your money OUT of their control.

You've listed some good reasons why some people might opt not to privatize 
some of their fund, but i've yet to see any good argument as to why the 
choice to do so shouldn't be offered to people.
