If you were white that is. Just talk with any black who lived, or
lived in the south. It has the same connotation to them as the Nazi
flag has to people of Gypsy or Jewish decent.

Just because the racism as represented by the flag was not salient to
to the non-southern public, did not mean it did not exist.

I've protested against Klan and neo-Nazi demonstrations and parades.
There was never one that did not sport the southern battle flag.It a
symbol of slavery, of Jim Crow and of the lynching.
