No - the original book was a true phenomenon.  It had very little marketing
and was made popular mostly via word of mouth.

Instead you might say it's a "so-so story that inexplicably gathered one of
the largest audiences in the world".  ;^)  But even that's wrong because
she's actually a very inventive writer.  

She really does deserve her success.  This isn't an "Ashlee Simspon" kind of
no-talent hump backed by marketing thing.

I like them - I don't remember them very well and I don't own anything other
than the books.
