It will probably run you $100 bucks if you buy the breaker and get a
good deal on an electrician.  A new AC unit is probably $200.  For the
extra $100 it may not be worth all the effort, you might just want to go
buy a new unit.

He would if I asked (we live on the third floor, he lives on the second
- so
this is both his house and his home).

But we're getting such a good deal on rent here (nearly half what other
apartments in this area go for) that I'd rather not have him spend the
money.

He's a sweetheart of a guy, really.  Doesn't speak English very well
either
tho' - so I'm also dreading asking persmission.  ;^)
