But absolutely nothing that indicates that healthy people can improve their
memories by taking Ginko. And yet here are some of the descriptions of
Ginko in some of the online shops:

"The subject of hundreds of scientific tests over the past 50 years, it is
being used to restore mental acuity, as a treatment for hearing and vision
problems as well as impotence, edema, varicose veins, leg ulcers, and
strokes. Quality, purity, and potency 100% Guaranteed"

"Ginkgo biloba, a readily available natural product, has been the focus of
recent media reports as a potential treatment for Alzheimer's Disease as
well as useful for memory in general, even in folks without memory
problems."

"Our special memory focus blend will keep you sharp and alert no matter what
your age! Includes Ginko Biloba, Bacopin, DMAE, Phosphatidylserine Complex,
Vinpocetine and more."

"Ginkgo Biloba is taken as an energizer to improve mood and alertness, as a
"smart drug" to stimulate brain function and boost memory, and as an
antioxidant to slow the effects of aging and prevent degenerative diseases.
It has also been used to relieve tension and anxiety and to restore energy."

"If one can't remember the name of this important herb, then they probably
are in need of it's amazing beneficial powers. However, many folks have not
heard of the plant before or have never been carefully informed of it's
amazing qualities."

The point is that the drug definitely has certain effects, and certain other
effects on specific types of patients. But the science is being twisted to
indicate a general benefit.

The same has been done for shark cartilage, the "Mozart Effect" activated
charcoal and many other substances and therapies: success in specific,
isolated incidents or circumstances has been marketed as a panacea.

That's what annoys me, not people that do their research and have realistic
expectations for the substances they ingest.
