They are professionals. The difference between an amateur and a professional is 
supposed to be that an amateur tries until it works, and a professional trains 
until it doesn't fail anymore.

As far as I'm concerned, the police was not only risking their lives, but 
risking the lives of everybody else in the station. Even without warning or 
identifying yourself as police shooting the guy in the leg from behind in the 
middle of the street is a better option then letting a suspected suicide bomber 
enter a station.
