I'm rereading the Flux and Anchor (Soul Rider) series by Jack Chalker.
 The plot is almost like a Matrix type.  Not really a deep read, but
very entertaining.  Plus, you want to know what behind the Hellgates
that the "Nine Who Guard" protect from the "Seven Who Wait"
