The V6 Passat gets a few bad reviews due to be under powered when compared to other cars in that class. I like their TDI option, for something like $300-500 over the gas model you get a decently sized sedan that gets around 40mpg. They had a W8 in the Passats but I think maybe here recently they are pulling that motor option or maybe it was the AWD model they are pulling.
