Castro is apparently very popular in Cuba. Mao was very popular in China. Some
people in Russia actually yearn for the good ol' days with Joe Stalin. Being
democratically elected hasn't prevented Chavez from trampling all over the
Venezuelan constitution.

Unused land they don't own. As I said, he has pushed the disintegration of
private property rights. You like communism? It has been a clossal failure
everywhere it was tried. It sucks. But hey, to each his own.

Since the 80's? Please. In 1900 Argentina had the same GDP as the U.S. Don't
try to blame the U.S. for the screwed-up policies of a series of tin-pot
dictators, socialist elites, and right-wing thugs who spent the 20th century
doing as much damage as they could to the economies of Latin America.

I don't wonder why Chavez is popular. Many people in Latin America live in
abject poverty (see above), but rather than lead Venezuela to a positive
future, Chavez is leading Venezuela down a very dark road.
