It would be bad for Canada to surrender its sovereignty to the U.S.. However,
on the other hand, it would be very good for all if the U.S. and Canada became
much closer. The traveling and interaction between the two nations should be
seamless for most people of both nations. The way to do that is to better
control
who enters North America. This should include Mexico.

On the subject of sovereignty. I am living in the U.S. because I goofed in
my efforts
to become a Canadian way back when.

I am sort of a globalist in my views. If the world was one nation with a
good practical
democratic government things would be a lot better. That, I'll admit is a
Utopian idea
for the time being.

I do not object to the U.S. and Canada becoming one nation unless it means
that
Canada becomes a part of the U.S.. I strongly object to that. If the two
nations
could come up with a new form of government society that would be more humane
(i.e., like Canada) I would gladly support the creation of a North American
nation
that not only included Canada and the U.S. but also Mexico.

There are some things very bad about the american system and society that
Canada
has tried to deal with by not being so "gun ho" capitalistic. There are a
lot more
things that could be done which are not. One of these is the recognition
that health
of the population should not be left solely to the whims and greed of the
health industry.
I do not think that Canada has gotten it correct but, at least the idea
that health care
should not depend upon the ability to pay very high fees is in the right
direction.

The Americans who swallow the line that Canada's health care systems is not
working because it is a mixed socialist system should recognize that the
per capital spending in Canada back before the steep reduction in federal
spending
started was maybe under 50% of what is spent in the U.S.. The Canadian
situation got worse when the current government started reducing its payment.

I also like Canada's approach to guns. The U.S.'s approach to guns is very
bad.

The U.S. government is to beholden to special interests with influence. This is
bad. Canada may also have the same problem. One solution would be for the
U.S. elected people to have term limitations of one term that could be six or
ten years. Maybe, just maybe, they will not be so beholden to those groups
which can influence them with votes and money. The lobby industry is bad.
