Ditto on the Flash. If I leave Firefox open with Flash content in it,
the browser consumes a ton of RAM and eventually will cause my machine
to start locking up and slowing. This is especially a problem if I
leave a tab open to a site with rotating Flash banners that just pile
on and kill the browser over time.

Sounds like a leak in the plugin or in Firefox's plugin architecture.
I have also considered that there may be an as yet undetected Flash
content related trojan in my machine but I don't think that is the
case (hope hope).

Reinstalling the plugin seems to have helped for now...
