Well okay....

1.) It's a commercial software only option.
2.) MS VSS doesn't support multiple checkouts.  When one user has it
open, you're SOL if you want to edit it.
3.) It requires a separate client be installed on your machine vs a
plugin approach.
4.) MS VSS requires the use of a sql database.
5.) MS VSS is not open source and doesn't seem to have the same speed
of innovation as other solutions have.
6.) I'm not real hip on the 'integration' into DW.  In essence you
have to set up a 'site' that will check into and out of VSS.
7.) I just don't like VSS.
