Congrats! We did our belated honeymoon in Ireland, too. Here are my tips:
1. If you're renting a car, take the accident insurance. Seriously. You've
never driven on narrower roads. (We knocked the glass out of one of the
sideview mirrors. Oops.)
2. Pay no attention to road signs. Get a good map, unless you like being
lost. Ireland has the strangest road signage. You'll come up to an
intersection and you'll see an arrow pointing left that says, "Dublin,
17km." Then, at the same intesection, you'll see another arrow pointing
right that says, "Dublin, 25km." And, you'll sit there and say, "WTF?" I
swear every road in Ireland is circular.
3. Go watch the street performers in Dublin - way cool. Take public
transportation in the city - way easier. We went to an amazing Thai
restaurant in Dublin. Of course, I couldn't tell you where it was or the
name of it. But, by the time we got to Dublin, we were soooooo ready for
some food with spice to it. (Food was probably the most dissapointing thing
about Ireland for me.)
4. Enjoy it - and don't be too nervous. Everyone in Ireland was very nice,
and other than the roads, it's not _that_ different that you should have
major culture shock. I loved it!
