Have to disagree with you on that one. Therapy works. period. I think
you have a certain viewpoint about all therapies. The reality is that
different therapies are for different people. Anyone who takes a one
type fits all is too ideological. For someone like you Tim I'd look at
CBT or Albert Ellis's Rational Emotive Therapy - its very good for
people who are articulate and intelligent.

There are alos those who are therapy junkies. Who keep going to
therapist after therapist even if nothing is really wrong. The most
successful, in my mind, are those people who recognize that there is a
problem and are looking for ways to deal with it. If you want to sit
on a couch and natter away about your horrid childhood, then you're
wasting your and the therapist's time. If on the other hand you go
into the situation knowing that something is wrong, ie., you're very
depressed etc., and you're willing to do something about it, then it
will work. Typically it takes about 3 or so months but it does work,
if you're willing to do the work yourself.
